Fragile Body, Impenetrable Soul

Fragile Body, Impenetrable Soul

As I sit here in the hospital, a ton of different emotions are racing through this very brain of mine. It wasn’t long ago that I fought for my life in a place like this. Not that my mother is fighting for hers. While her situation is concerning, it isn’t as life-threatening as mine, but it makes one think.

How truly fragile the human body really is. We are capable of so much. Things such as love, the ability to unequivocally love someone where you are willing to risk it all for them. Sure there are different kinds of love. The love you feel for your significant other is one such love. The love you feel for your child or parent is another.

Regardless love is love. Then we have the courage where we fear nothing. We rush into the unknown full steam ahead, not knowing the dangers beyond those doors. We do so to protect ourselves, our loved ones, and others, and we do so to challenge ourselves to greater things.

Yes, we as humans are so amazing. While we can achieve and overcome any and every single thing, we put our minds to. Trust me, I know this first hand, having been set back by Covid and learning how to walk again and defy the odds. So when it comes to mind over matter, I get it.

But on the flip side of that coin is how fragile our human bodies truly are. One small slip and oops, a bone is broken. One bad thing consumed and oops, indigestion and a massive stomach ache. I could go on and on.

What purpose does it serve to have such fragile bodies and such impenetrable minds? This is something I wish to debate and go over in my mind. I intended this blog to be finished, but perhaps its purpose wasn’t for it to be completed. Maybe it’s meant for me to reflect that we need fragile bodies to remind us how truly vulnerable we are. Our bodies, these vessels, are temporary with an unknown expiration date for us all. That true power lies within our very Souls, which God has given us.

Perhaps this is his way of showing us that without him, we are bound to die and break. But with him, one can truly achieve wonders. I’ll leave the comments open below on this one. Please feel free to chime in.
